Tips On Doing Proper SEO KEYWORD Research
Have you been doing your own seo keyword research and if yes, are you confident that you are using the right approach? As you may already know, keyword research should be among the first things that you should be doing in your search engine optimization. In this article I will be sharing with you the steps that I take whenever I conduct my own keyword research.
The first thing that I usually do is to have a full grasp of what my website is all about. Sounds simple, right? It isn’t and that’s where most people commit mistakes early on. It’s because they cannot pinpoint or zero in on the specific topic that the website is tackling. Is your website about making money online or is it about blogging for money? While both makes you earn money through the internet, they are not the same thing. The blogging for money site is more focused on its topic compared to the first one. That is why before you even begin to conduct your keyword research you must first know what it is you are offering to the world.
Next I use a keyword research tool. You can use any tool that you want but as for me, I often use Google’s free keyword tool. I don’t use more than two keyword research tools as I often find myself bombarded with too much data. Also keep in mind that the numbers you are getting are not exact but just estimates. Then I start my keyword research by using the broader terms that I would like to rank for. I don’t use those broad keywords in my seo campaign as it is harder to rank for those keywords. I just use it as my starting point to help me find the long tail keywords which are more easier to compete in.
So which of the data should you focus on? I put great importance on the monthly search volume results. I know that it is not the exact figures, but merely estimates. However it is the closest thing that you can get in an exact search data. I only select a keyword with just a few thousands of search volumes and with just a little amount of competition when I search for it in Google.
It is best to use just one single theme or topic in your keyword research and search engine optimizing for your website. This will help to keep your thoughts and ideas laser-focused for more effectiveness. With just one theme, it will be a lot easier for the search engines to identify which category or niche your website should belong and for which keywords should your site be ranking.
So how many keywords do I usually get? It depends on how many pages my website contains. This is because I make it a policy to use just one or two keywords per page. Again this has something to do with ensuring that my website is focused.
These are just some of the tips that you can follow for your keyword research for seo. It is a safe and effective process that can help you quickly collect the right keywords for your website. Just always remember to work within just one theme and your seo campaign will be all sound and good.
